Reflecting on all that I have witnessed since I began college, I am left in shock and awe by my generation. Entitled, spoiled and naive are the only words I can think of to describe my peers that think Socialism is a better alternative to the Free Market. I knew I had to change their mentality, and that is the reason I founded CSULA’s chapter of Young Americans for Freedom.
If you don’t realize it yet, look around at the rest of our generation. How have they allowed themselves to become so weak? To protect their fragile feelings, they are ready to censor anyone who dares to have a different opinion, and if someone should encroach on their sacred bubble, then they demand therapy, safe spaces, play-dough and puppy sounds at the ready.
Late last year at Yale University, a college student yelled at a professor, claiming that college “IT’S NOT ABOUT CREATING AN INTELLECTUAL SPACE! IT’S ABOUT CREATING A HOME HERE!”
Don’t you see what is happening? These students are so weak that they are willing to give up anything, even their freedom of speech. If you are like me, you believe as Benjamin Franklin once said, “Those who would give up essential liberty, to purchase a little temporary safety deserve neither.”
At Claremount McKenna College, students gathered to complain about how “racist” their campus was. One student who had been crying into a megaphone started complaining when other people asked to use it to express their opinions after she hogged it for almost an hour.
This election cycle, an alarming number of millennials supported Bernie Sanders in exchange for promises of ‘free’ healthcare and ‘free’ education, all to eager to give up their liberty for free stuff.
They don’t understand that nothing is free, and everything has its price. Thomas Jefferson best explained that when he said, “A government big enough to give everything you want is a government big enough to take whatever you have.”
In active defiance of the values that this country was founded on, and those who have given the ultimate sacrifice to protect us, liberal millennials are willing to do so simply because they were born with a sense of entitlement.
I’m happy to say that I am one of the few whom understand the pitfalls of socialism. We face a daily struggle to fight back against the leftist indoctrination, promoted by our faculty and administration. With an overwhelmingly leftist educational system producing liberal radicals and thugs, conservatives are vilified by their peers and pressured into assimilating to this disgusting norm.
Enough is Enough.
I am done being pushed around, and it’s about time to break away from the chains of political correctness that has kept us bound from speaking the truth. It’s time to fight back. To my friends who are reading this, but are not yet fighting against those who would take our rights, I ask you this. If not you then who? If not now then when?
