Edward Snowden Offered Cabinet Position By This Presidential Candidate

In 2013, whistle-blower and former CIA employee, Edward Snowden leaked information to the public that was marked classified by the National Security Agency (NSA). The controversial act by Snowden forced him to flee the country and has led to heated debates over mass surveillance, government secrecy, and the balance between national security and information privacy.

Some call Snowden a patriot, while others call him a traitor.

Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein, however, sees him as the former. In fact, the physician supports Snowden so much that she pledged to grant him a full pardon and even a cabinet position if she were to be elected president.

Dr. Stein said in a town hall:

[Snowden] has done an incredible service to our country at great cost to himself for having to live away from his family, his friends, his job, his network, to basically live as an extradite.

She continued by elaborating her stance:

I would say not only bring Snowden back, but bring him into my administration as a member of the Cabinet, because we need people who are part of our national security administration who are really, very patriotic. If we’re really going to protect American security, we also have to protect our Constitutional rights, and that means our right to privacy.

Snowden is beloved and hated by many Americans; some condemn Snowden’s actions while others believe he is a hero.

What do you think? Does Snowden deserves prosecution or should he be pardoned?

  1. It is simple, he is a traitor. For those that say he is not is akin to saying illegal aliens are not illegal because they want a better life. He broke the law and gave classified information to our enemies – that is the definition of traitor. That being said, I don’t believe the government has the right to collect information without a warrant. Our God-given unalienable rights are fragile and must be viciously defended by we the people. If that was his intent, he did not have to do it by traitorous means. After all where did he end up going? Russia. Do you think that is the only information he gave the Russians? No – he not a patriot, he is a traitor and should be dealt with accordingly.

  2. “In January 2014, the Guardian newspaper and Channel 4 News reported that the US had collected and stored almost 200 million text messages per day across the globe.” – BBC

I agree with Jill on this one. Don’t know much about Jill. Hope she is not another liar like Trump.
