Kid Rock Hints at Running for Senate and Could Have ‘Rock Star’ Competition

No, I’m not joking, and yes, you are awake.

Kid Rock says that the website, kidrockforsenate.com, is real and he will be making “major announcement” in the near future.

The website is relatively underdone and nowhere near complete. As of now, it features a picture of Kid Rock that includes writing on the wall that reads, “Made in Detroit,” hinting towards the state in which he will likely run for office.

Another feature on the website is the opportunity to buy “Kid Rock for US Senate” shirts, hats, sticker, and yard signs.

And then there’s more. The website also has rotating pictures that are practically half campaign slogans, half variants of his most popular songs.

Hearing Kid Rock’s name thrown around in the world of politics isn’t necessarily new. In February earlier this year, Kid Rock was mentioned at a Michigan Republican convention as a possible candidate to challenge Democrat Debbie Stabenow. This rumor had been circulating for awhile, and now it’s confirmed.

It’s worth the noting that Kid Rock has a history supporting the GOP. In 2012, he supported Mitt Romney by showing up at a campaign rally and performing a concert for him. Kid Rock also allowed Romney to use his song ‘Born Free’ as his campaign song. In 2016, Kid Rock seemed to show support for Ben Carson during the primaries, stating: “I’m very interested in the things that [he] has to say.” However, later on, Kid Rock signaled his support for then-candidate Trump by saying that he’s “digging Trump.” His reasons were a mixture of being sick of corrupt politicians and believing we should just “let the motherf*cking business guy run it like a f*cking business.”

Now, I will blow your mind. Yes, it can get crazier than this.

There have also been talks of Ted Nugent running for the US Senate in Michigan as well. Nugent says that he’s a “hell raiser,” and “[He’s] what the Founding Fathers wanted all Americans to be.” Like Kid Rock, Nugent is also a big fan of President Trump and his policies, going as far as to state that he would, “[Put] America first, make America great again, job security, secure the border. You know, it’s so simple even guitar players can figure it out.”

We may have two iconic rock stars running against each other in the GOP primary in Michigan, what a time to be alive.
