Classy Cocktail Guide

Whether you’re going to a high-end affair, a club with friends, or a simple dinner party at a friend’s house, having a cocktail can liven up any get together! So today, we’re going to take a look at some of the most popular cocktails and what they’re made of, so you can either be prepared to make them or at least be familiar with them, allowing you to get an idea of what you enjoy most. Most of the information for this article comes from liquor.com, so if there are any cocktails that I missed that you would like to check out, I’m sure you can find them there! So without any further ado, let’s get started!

1. Gin & Tonic

Ingredients: 2 oz of gin, 3-4 oz of tonic water, 1-3 lime wedges (proportions may vary based on taste)

One of my personal favorites and a perfect fit for any occasion!

2. Moscow Mule

Ingredients: 2 oz of vodka, 3 oz of ginger beer, juice of half a lime, garnish with lime slice or wedge

This one is my all-time personal favorite, and can be incredibly refreshing. Again, a great fit for any affair. For a fun twist on this, you can make a Backcountry Mule, replacing the vodka with Jack Daniels, or a Kentucky Mule, replacing the vodka with bourbon.

3. Margarita

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz of tequila, 3/4 oz of lime juice, 1 oz Cointreau (orange-flavored liqueur), kosher salt (optional)

In the words of Sterling Archer, “Five ingredients: tequila, Cointreau, lime juice, ice, kosher salt!” In all seriousness, if you happen to be going to a Mexican restaurant for dinner with some friends, or on vacation at a beach resort, this will be the perfect drink of choice!

4. Martini

Ingredients: 2 1/2 oz. of gin (or vodka depending on your tastes), 1/2 of dry vermouth, dash of orange bitters, garnish with green olives (usually three on a toothpick)

We all know 007’s drink of choice: “Vodka martini. Shaken, not stirred.” The perfect choice for any high-end affair. It may also make you look a bit more appealing if you’re trying to woo that certain lady.

5. Cosmopolitan

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz of citrus vodka, 1 oz of Cointreau, 1/2 of lime juice, dash of cranberry juice, garnish with lemon twist

Another popular choice for high-end affairs, and also a great choice for anyone who loves sweet, citrus-flavored cocktails, like me.

6. Cuba Libre

Ingredients: 1 oz of rum (usually Bacardi Gold), 3 oz of Coca-Cola, garnish with a lime wedge

I have a friend who had this as his drink of choice. I myself am not a fan of Coke, but for those of you who are and would like a bit more kick from your soda, this just might be for you!

7. Tom Collins

Ingredients: 2 oz of gin, 1 oz of fresh lemon juice, 1/2 oz of simple syrup, club soda

The drink is so popular that they named the glass after it! This is another drink that, similar to the Moscow Mule, is incredibly refreshing. If you’re looking for something to drink on a hot summer day, this can be a great choice and can be considered a more classy and adult variation of lemonade.

8. Irish Coffee

Ingredients: 1 1/2 oz of Irish Whiskey, 1 oz brown sugar syrup, hot brewed coffee

This is a must-have for anyone who enjoys coffee, booze, or both. This works great as either an accompaniment for breakfast or as a nightcap.

That’s all the info I have for now. If there are any cocktails that I missed, or if you’d like some more info on cocktails in general, be sure to take a look at liquor.com. I’m more than positive they’ll have all the info you’re looking for. Thanks for reading, and I hope you all had a happy Easter!
